The Cross-Links Centre

The Cross-Links Centre is the home of Cross-Links Dover. It is the focal point for our work on Buckland Estate and further afield.

From 1997 to 2006 Cross-Links (our former name) had worked from a modest shop premises in the heart of the Buckland estate, (No 5a Sheridan Road).

In 2003 the Post office situated next door closed & hailed the start of a project to refurbish it to create a new Community Day Centre/Cafe to be known as ‘The Cross-Links Centre’.

The new centre enables us to greatly improve the range of services we offer.

The Centre is a Community Day Centre, open for community news & information, as well as a simple cafe providing refreshments & snack meals.

After school hours it becomes the home of a number of children’s clubs & on most evenings is a Youth Cafe.

There are opportunities for local people to gain experience in helping with all of these activities as volunteers.

We offer photocopying facilities & we hope to extend access to computers & the internet in the near future.

The Official Opening Ceremony took place on Monday 3rd July, although the Centre has been open to the community since 6th February 2006.

The Cross-Links Centre project was funded by:

Cross-Links own funds & fundraising events; Awards For All; Kent County Council Local Boards (Member Community grant & Small Community Capital Projects); Dover (Single Regeneration Budget) Fund; Kent County Council Partnership Awards; the Hollywood Manor Fund; Kent County Council Youth & Community Start-Up Fund and Canterbury Cathedral.
